That Knicks team was one of the greatest teams ever with Earl Monroe onboard. It is the team all of the "old guys" keep wishing would return. They could play with anyone - and they usually found ways to beat anyone. Alas, it is a way different league now.
They played as a true team. And they all took pride in defense. I just saw a quote from Monroe from November, 1972 in which he said that when he came to the Knicks he started to focus on defense and stopped being concerned with scoring. And this was one of the top scorers in the NBA when he was with the Bullets. And they were all highly intelligent. Bradley became a senator, Frazier is a TV commentator, Reed and Jackson became head coaches, DeBusschere became a team executive, Lucas was like a sevant with mind boggling memory feats.
Thanks Joe. Appreciate the feedback. It still sounds mind boggling that the Knicks scored the last 19 points of the game to win by 1 over an offensive machine with the best player in basketball at that time (and some say the best ever).
I was real excited when I found the video of the game since there is very little video publicly available from most NBA games 50 years ago.
Thank goodness there is video. So many historical moments, sports and otherwise, have been lost forever. It would be hard to believe if there were no footage

There is no video of Wilt's 100 point game. But the radio call survives and it's a real classic.
