The Knicks are wearing “19” on their Unis in honor of Willis.
The 1973 NBA playoffs were on ABC. The Lakers/Grizzlies playoff game was on ABC today - with Mark Jackson (former Knicks player), Jeff van Gundy (former Knicks coach), and Mike Breen (regular Knicks broadcaster) as the broadcast team.
Both the Knicks and the Lakers won this weekend - interesting.
Very interesting about the Knicks and Lakers winning playoff games this Sunday, exactly 50 years after they both won huge playoff games on a Sunday. I wonder if any TV announcers of those games even knew about that.
It was also 50 years ago last weekend that the Celtics beat the Hawks in the playoffs and now the Celtics are beating the Hawks in the playoffs right now.

A lot of weird similarities between this season and 50 years ago. I also think that since there is really no super-dominant team this season, that it could be any team in the playoffs that might make the Finals - including the aforementioned teams above - no matter what the seedings...
Yes, a lot of similarities between this year's NBA playoffs and 50 years ago. In 1973, the Bucks had a dominant 7 footer in Kareem and finished with a 14 game winning streak and then got bounded in the 1st round. This year the Bucks have a dominant 7 footer in Giannis and had a late 16 game winning streak and then got whacked in game 1 yesterday. Of course, it didn't help that Giannis got injured. But if he can't come back Milwaukee, with the best record in the NBA, could be out early.
